After 4 long weeks, and two out of state rounds, the AMA/Kenda National Hare and Hound Series returned to the Southern California Deserts and Kendall Norman was back on top of the podium with an amazing wire to wire win at Round 6..

The Bomb Run was short and narrow and a good start would be key to taking the win and as the banner dropped it was anyones game. Magnum 250 Expert, and 2009 Baja 500 overall winner, Bill Boyer had one of the best starts of his life. "I started right next to Kendall and Pearson and they had to pass me! It was great to watch" By the end of the dusty valley it was all Red with JCR Honda's Kendall Norman in the lead and into the long sandwash.

Hot on his tail were Monster Kawasaki's Destry Abbott and FMF/KTM team mates David Kamo and David Pearson. Into the pits Norman had a comfortable lead at over a minute and a half. Abbott and Kamo came in side by side and before the first gnarly section Kamo was able to get by Abbott.

After a dissapointing finish in round 1 and a second place to 16 year old Colton Sanders in round 2 Nick Burson is back on top and at full steam with a commanding win and the points lead at round 3 of the US Desert Racing series.

Heading back to Stephens Mine Rd. staging area with an 17.3 mile course filled with rocks, washes and a long 100mph road, round 3 had something to offer for everyone.  First, however, the kids were set to do battle the saturday before the event and it was full of upsets and new winners.

DESTRY ABBOTT TAKES THE WIN - KENDALL NORMAN KEEPS THE LEAD

JCR Hondas Kendall Norman came into Round 5 of the National Hare and Hound series in Jericho Utah with the wind at his back and a large points lead over the field. With two wins in a row and a comfortable gap Norman seemed to have things under control but Monster Kawasaki's Destry Abbott would definitely have something to say about that.

MORGAN 1ST OVERALL AT THE DIRT DIGGERS DESERT SCRAMBLE

AMA/District 37 DESERT SERIES - 03/28/10

by Morgan Crawford - photos Michelle Paul - www.blaisracing.com

The weekend started off like any other. My buddy Bob Roberts and I rolled out from Fresno at about 10am Saturday morning on our way to the Dirt Diggers MC Desert Scrambles Race near Ridgecrest, Ca.  After a quick stop at Starbucks, we were pumped, ready to drive, and arrived at the Dirt Diggers staging area at around 2:30pm.  After a quick power nap, we unloaded our bikes and went on a 30-mile suspension test ride through the hills of Ridgecrest, over to Charlie's Place, through Teagle Wash and up to the roller coaster hills of Spangler.

Sunday morning snuck up quick.  With two hours to go before the banner would drop, I had to get limbered up so I took my mandatory 30 minute ride through some treacherous whoops.  I topped off my fuel, shoved down a banana and a bagel, loaded up the pit truck, then headed to the start line.  It was a "start by class" so Row 1 was the hot ticket with some stiff competition surrounding me in the Open Expert class. Nick Burson was to the right of me and Jake Argubright was to the left of me.  Ricky Brabec started a few spots down from me.

JCR HONDA'S KENDALL NORMAN TAKES HOME THE WIN AT THE RABBIT CREEK 100

AMA/KENDA NATIONAL HARE AND HOUND ROUND 4 - MURPHY, ID

After a disappointing yet hard earned finish at the San Felipe 250 the week before, JCR Honda/Alpinestar/DVS backed Kendall Norman was back on top at Round 4 of the AMA/KENDA National Hare and Hounds Series scoring his second win in a row and the second win for Honda in over 10 years.

For the 1st time in nearly 6 years Murphy Idaho hosted a National Hare and Hound consisting of terrain that very few from the series have ever encountered. Over 100 miles of single track, pastures, creek crossings and sage brush. Not to mention the grazing cows crossing the course and the plane following riders over head getting footage. This was one of the best organized Nationals to date and everyone could tell that Dirt Inc. put in a lot of hours to make this an epic one!
